Our goal isn’t just to keep kids entertained — it’s to give them a foundation of truth they can stand on for life.
We live in a time when biblical literacy is in steep decline — not just among adults, but among kids too. Many children grow up in church but leave it without ever really understanding how the Bible fits together or how it points to Jesus. That’s not just unfortunate — it’s dangerous.
As a children’s ministry director, I saw firsthand how easy it is for curriculum to drift into moralism: Be kind like David, be brave like Esther, be obedient like Noah. While character traits are important, they are not the point of the Bible. Kids need more than behavior training — they need to meet the God who saves.
So What is Biblical Literacy?
Biblical literacy is more than knowing stories. It’s helping kids:
- Understand who God is from Genesis to Revelation
- See how every part of Scripture points to Jesus
- Grasp the big themes of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration
- Learn how to read the Bible and apply it rightly
And here’s the truth: Kids are capable of this. Even preschoolers can learn that God is holy, that sin separates us from Him, and that Jesus came to rescue us. Even young elementary kids can begin to understand covenant promises and gospel hope. But we have to teach it.
A Generation Grounded in Truth
If we want the next generation to remain faithful in a world of confusion, we must give them more than catchy songs and crafts (as fun as those are). We need to give them the whole counsel of God in ways they can understand and apply. That’s why I created Big Truth Bible Lessons for Kids — not to entertain, but to equip.
Our curriculum is built to help churches teach children:
- The storyline of Scripture
- Sound doctrine in age-appropriate ways
- The gospel, every single week
We’re not dumbing things down. We’re breaking them down — clearly, faithfully, and joyfully — so kids can build a foundation that lasts.
Let’s Raise Kids Who Know God’s Word
Biblical literacy isn’t just a nice goal — it’s a vital part of discipleship. When we teach the Bible rightly, we’re not just preparing kids to answer Bible trivia. We’re preparing them to walk with God, love His Word, and follow Jesus for life.
Let’s be churches that raise kids who don’t just know the Bible — they understand it, trust it, and treasure it.
