Scope and Sequence

What is a scope and sequence? Scope lays out the content that will be covered through the curriculum. Sequence explains the order said content will be taught. More simply put, a scope and sequence is a teaching plan laid out through careful consideration of curriculum and it's usage.

One of the best gifts you can give yourself, as a Sunday School teacher or children's ministry leader,  is a teaching plan. If you're curious about the reasons behind having a teaching plan, please read "Do you Have a Plan?" In this article I lay out my thoughts on developing a teaching plan and have suggestions for how to incorporate Biblical theology, systematic theology, Biblical literacy and thematic studies into your plan.

If you are looking to develop your own teaching plan, our hope is that the provided scope and sequence for our materials will help you see how Big Truth Bible Lessons for Kids can be a part of your overall ministry plan.

When it comes to a Scope and Sequence for children's ministry, we offer two options. The first option is for all ages in children's ministry to be learning the same thing at the same time. This option has great benefits for all sizes of churches, and makes providing parent resources more simple as who families can be encouraged to study the same passage. This option is also ideal for small churches where all ages are in the same class. The second option is the use of age-specific materials. With this option you are able to customize a plan for the years that children are in your ministry where each year builds on the previous year.

Below you will see both options detailed out, and links provided for you to view details of the scope and sequence.
